Two years of unfailing performance with no maintenance and no cleaning in an environment of regular sandstorms and little rain.
The brief was to provide 243 Monopole™ 1.0 WP3 Masts for street lighting for a new housing development on Yas Island, consisting of 488 villas, based on a traditional ‘fareej’ neighbourhood.
The project was commissioned in 2014 and has now been continuously operational for 2 years with a flawless success rate.
The masts are continuously monitored by Scotia® engineers and are shown to be delivering 100% of the light on the ground specified by the Abu Dhabi Municipality. The batteries are fully charged by midday, allowing minimum activity in the hottest part of the day.
These masts have not been cleaned since the initial installation two years ago, but show no fall-off in yield – demonstrating the dramatic advantages of vertical solar in maintenance cycles, when compared to older ‘flat-top’ designs.
