Scotia have installed a Monopole 2.0 mast in the Nigerian capital as part of a pilot project for the development of micro grids built around Scotia systems
This initiative paves the way for the large scale introduction of micro grid technology in the region, allowing communities to overstep inefficient centralised networks and move towards greater control of their power assets.
Another pilot is planned for the province of Lagos.
Micro grids powered by the high yield PV of Scotia systems generate much more energy than is required simply for lighting, and can extend power supply to many other types of community infrastructure, such as traffic control, public security cameras, advertising and signage.
These systems are seen as a viable solution to the long term energy problems of this region.
